Early Collaboration

We bring in key consultants early to align design decisions and avoid costly rework later.

Our history

Our design DNA

Purposeful architecture for a lasting impact

We design intentionally and precisely to create enduring, thoughtful work.

Our firm was founded in 1989 as Lucas/Schwering Architects by architects Tim Lucas and Larry Schwering, focusing on K-12 education projects throughout the state, as well as private, commercial, and equine industry clients.

In 2012, ownership was shifted to Mike Sparkman and his former business partners, and the firm became known as alt32 architecture | design, where work continued in a variety of industries.

In late 2018, alt32 acquired the book of business from architect Alvin Cox of CoxAllen Architects of Louisville, KY, and expanded our portfolio to include federal work, largely with the U.S. General Services Administration, which is the administrative umbrella that assists government agencies with purchasing services, managing real estate, and more.

Today, we’re simply known as alt32 architecture.

Significance from the simple

We create profound meaning from modest beginnings. We are committed to making every project impactful, no matter its scale.
