Cherokee Henrie
Project Development Assistant
Experience
Cherokee brings an interdisciplinary background in interior design, urban planning, and real estate development to the alt32 team. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Interior Design, a Master of Urban Planning with a concentration in Community Development, and a Graduate Certificate in Real Estate Development from the University of Louisville.
Her academic and professional experiences have shaped her passion for adaptive reuse, historic preservation, and community-focused redevelopment. During her time with Vital Sites, Cherokee gained hands-on exposure to historic preservation efforts, including the role of historic tax credits in supporting the rehabilitation and continued use of existing buildings.
Her graduate studies further developed her interest in the relationship between the built environment and the communities it serves. Her work in the University of Louisville's Neighborhood Planning Studio received an Outstanding Student Project Award from the Kentucky Chapter of the American Planning Association, recognizing the studio's community-focused planning work.
Cherokee is especially interested in the intersection of design, planning, and development, believing that thoughtful collaboration across disciplines creates opportunities for more meaningful and lasting projects. She looks forward to bringing this perspective to alt32 while continuing to develop her skills and learn from the diverse experiences of her teammates.
Outside of work, Cherokee and her husband are tackling the simultaneous renovation of two historic homes in Old Louisville, a hands-on endeavor that has only deepened her appreciation for the character, craftsmanship, and occasional surprises that come with older buildings.
