Hurricane Florence Storm Damage
L.R. Preyer Federal Building and U.S. Courthouse
Greensboro, NC

Client: U.S. General Services Administration

Performed as a Design-Build project with Hammer Construction for the GSA in Region 4, this beautiful, National Register-eligible federal building was a victim of Hurricane Florence, and the remediation work was aimed at fortifying select low-slope roof areas and exterior masonry walls, specifically two judges’ chambers suffered water entry during high winds. Historic plaster and wood work were damaged.

The architect specified the replacement of two existing SBS roof systems, while adding insulation. The team also specified very extensive/detailed exterior elevation that guided mortar repairs on the joints of the exterior marble.
