Moisture Protection Repairs and Improvements

This project on a five-level National Register of Historic Places building included the design and construction of repairs and improvements to building envelope systems associated with the Century Station Federal Building and Post Office in Raleigh, North Carolina. The work consisted of roof replacements and improvements, epoxy injection crack repairs, joint sealant replacements, masonry pointing and repairs, exterior painting, interior finishes repairs, ventilation improvements, and roof cover repairs and improvements.

The work to the roof included removal of ballasted roof cover at elevator penthouse to replace with a conventional 80 mil. TPO roof, highly reflective TPO membrane, 4 inch thick polyisocyanurate insulation, metal flashing, and other components to pass ANSI/FM standard 4474 for design wind load. This project also included two coats of silicone waterproof coating over all existing steep-slope metal roof.

In addition, a comprehensive window study was conducted by our firm with the assistance of a local drone company.
